About Us

Who We Are

The Prince Georges Chargers was founded in January 2007 as a not-for-profit youth football & cheerleading organization. All offices of The Prince Georges Chargers are located in Prince Georges County Maryland, serving youth primarily in the Bowie, Lanham, Largo, and Mitchellville areas. The Prince Georges Chargers organization was created with the vision that all young people will have the opportunity to become "Great". We take pride in the fact that the Prince Georges Chargers is the result of the vision of our current Board of Directors, who, through it all, made the determination that the youth of today are our future and we must begin to develop them as leaders of tomorrow through the art of competitive sports.

We are a proud member of the Metropolitan Washington American Youth Football League (Metro AYF). Metro AYF consists of teams and associations from Prince Georges County, Montgomery County and the District of Columbia. Metro AYF is a division of the American Youth Football national program and this membership allows us the opportunity to compete for State, Atlantic Region (East Coast) and National Football and Cheer Championships.

Our Mission

The Prince Georges Chargers Youth Athletic Association is a Christian based youth sports ministry entering its 5th season of youth sports participation. As an association, we take great pride in the achievements of these programs, which operate at the highest level and is a strong catalyst in keeping the youth of our community off the streets and on the field of competition. The PG Chargers mission is to teach children the fundamentals of football and the art of cheerleading while promoting the word of God, discipline, dedication and teamwork in a fun environment. While education is an imperative, an important part of the PG Chargers mission statement is to instill in our youths the challenge of competition, the joy of victory, the reality of defeat, the importance of commitment and the spirit of community. We hope to help our community's children enhance social and life skills such as teamwork, cooperation, communication, and discipline. We will spread the word of God while playing organized sports such as football, basketball, arena football, baseball, track and soccer.
