To instill self-esteem, self-worth & provide the tools to help our children stand strong in a society where temptations are rampant.

Head Basketball Coaches

Kevin Butler coached for various youth athletic associations located in Prince George’s County, MD. Since 2009, he has served as assistant football coach and head coach of baseball and basketball teams for the Prince George’s Chargers (PG Chargers). In 2010, Kevin served as head soccer coach for the Bowie Boys and Girls Club; and in 2008, he served as assistant flag football coach for the Glenn Dale Recreation and Athletic Association. His players’ ages range from 5 to 9 years old.

Kevin’s passion for sports developed early in his youth as he played baseball, basketball and football while in elementary school through college. He was recruited to play football by the Virginia Military Institute, Lexington, VA; Catholic University, Washington, DC; Potomac State, Keyser, WVA; and Guilford College, Greensboro, NC. Ultimately, he played the positions of linebacker and safety for the Guilford College Quakers.

Because the PG Chargers’ foundation is built on faith, Kevin’s role as a coach provided him with the opportunity to merge his passion for sports with his love for Christ and his two sons, Bryce Xavier and Brock Sebastian Butler. As a coach, he serves as a positive role model for his sons and other youth within the community by incorporating faith, teamwork, accountability, sportsmanship, discipline and critical thinking in his teaching of the fundamentals of various sports. He considers his role as a coach as an awesome and rewarding responsibility.

Coach Kevin has been married to his high school sweetheart, Leia Donnita Butler, for over 22 years. As aforementioned, they have 2 surviving children: Bryce Xavier and Brock Sebastian Butler, and 2 daughters: Faith and Camryn Butler (both deceased).
