PGC Coaches
We provide our coaches with detailed instructions for setting up and executing a consistent practice schedule. We provide information on teaching proper fundamentals within each phase of the game and executing drills for every position. We provide a handbook for each sport that includes some great visual instruction on teaching the fundamentals of the game. Every coach is required to become certified through two different national organizations (i.e. USA football, Responsible Sports, etc.), and continue professional development throughout the season and off-season.
Our coaches assume the responsibility of doing everything possible to ensure that the youngsters on his or her team will have an enjoyable and safe sporting experience. In addition, our coaches are expected to ensure that players have fun, learn good values such as sportsmanship and teamwork, and learn to love the game, and learn the basic rules and skills required of the sport. The coach is responsible for planning and teaching activities in such a manner that the progression between activities minimizes risks. Our coaches must make sure our players warm-up prior to participation; and provide conditioning activities that consist of fun drills and not just sprints and running laps. We mandate our coaches to monitor each child during conditioning drills and throughout practice and game situations. We don't assume our participants have good cardiovascular conditioning just because they are young. Our coaches are expected to inspect equipment and facilities before practice and make sure each player has the proper equipment for the sport. Our coaches are expected to encourage players to drink plenty of water before, during and after practice
